Philippine flyweight champion Jerry Pahayahay, the 33 year old veteran with a total of 91 professional fights has lost a majority ten-round decision to undefeated Japanese Kuniyuki Aizawa in Tokyo.
Well-known Japanese boxing manager and promoter Joe Koizumi reported that Pahayahay “kept peppering the Japanese” who was quick on his feet and stayed out of trouble while Aizawa “occasionally scored stronger
left-right combos.” Two judges scored the fight in favor of Aizawa 97-96 and 98-95 while a third judge scored it a draw at 97-97.
Aizawa was coming off a first round knockout over Thailand’s Kittipop Saendeegym last August 9 while Pahayahay lost a split decision to Rexon Flores last May 21.
