After ruling out a return to the ring on more then one occasion, it appears that Roy Jones is finally considering a return to the ring. The word going around Europe is that IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods is in talks to face Roy Jones, Jr. later this year.
Jones previously stopped Clinton Woods in September of 2002 by way of a 6th round technical knockout.
It appears that Jones is looking at Woods as a stepping stone towards facing the winner of the upcoming June 18th rematch between Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson. The camp of Woods confirmed that they are currently in talks with Square Ring, the promotional company owned by Jones for a potential bout. Apparently, both camps are interested in holding the bout in Wood's backyard of England.
Many in the business question this move by Jones. Should Jones defeat Woods, Jones' supporters can no longer claim that he was an old fighter when he was knocked out in 2004 by Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver. Should Roy Jones lose to Clinton Woods, his overall career record and fan perception as a great fighter would both get hit with another devastating blow.
