Roy Jones, Jr. (50-4, 38 KOs) is continuing the road back to the top of light heavyweight division. He meets Puerto Rico's Manny Siaca (20-6, 18 KOs) in the main event of a pay-per-view that is scheduled for December 9 at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.
The Siaca bout marks the second bout of his comeback since losing three fights in a row between 2004-2005. Jones tells scribe Bernard Fernandez of the Mercury News that something was missing from his career, and then God came into his life and gave him what he was looking for.
"I don't know what was missing, but something definitely was. I didn't realize what it was until I got back home . God came to me out of the middle of nowhere and gave me what I had been looking for. Since then I feel like a totally different person, like a brand-new person," Jones said.
Jones also blames his career decline on switching up his ring style. He says that because he drifted away from the fighter that would throw highlight reel combinations, and changed his style to that of an ordinary boxer - it cost him dearly in the ring.
"Now I'm back to doing my thing. That other way, that's not how God put me here to fight. When I try to fight , it's going to cause me a problem. I should have stuck to what I was doing all along, with the bull jivin' and the game-playing."
Jones commented on the fact that his pay-per-view will go head-to-head with HBO's live telecast of WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor's defense of his titles against former 154-pound champ Kassim Ouma.
"If you want to watch that fight, they can," Jones said. "If you want to watch me, you can. It depends on what you want to see. But if you want to see the master, he's right here."
