According to Russian promoter Vladimir Hryunov, there is a good possibility that former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. (62-8, 45KOs) will return on December 2nd at the Olympic Sports Complex in Moscow, Russia.
Jones was set to fight next Saturday night in the UK against Tony Moran, but withdrew from the fight after no-showing his scheduled flight to the UK.
There was word that Jones was on the verge of landing an important fight. The December date was not mentioned as a possible date for that rumored opportunity.
Jones is gaining in popularity in the country. He recently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and asked the powerful leader to approve his request for Russian citizenship.
Jones has fought three times in the country and is currently spending time there to trainer Khabib and the Chudinov brothers for their upcoming contests.
The only thing Hryunov would confirm is that Jones will "not fight against Russian fighters" when competing in the country. With the cruiserweight title on his hit list, that would rule out Russian cruiserweight champions [WBA] Denis Lebedev and [WBC] Grigory Drozd.
