BoxingScene.com can confirm that ring legend Roy Jones Junior will fight at Liverpool's Aintree Equestrian Centre on the 12th of September.  He will appear on a Vaughan Boxing show against an as yet unnamed opponent.

“[When] the opportunity to work with Jones came up out of the blue, I couldn’t say no,” said promoter Stephen Vaughan.  "Why would you not want to be involved with a ring legend like Roy Jones?  He’s been there and done it but we believe he’s still a top drawer operator.  We are bringing one of the biggest fighters of all-time to a boxing city for the fans, not only in Liverpool but the UK.  We are hoping that the venue will be big enough for the event as we expect the show to sell out.  Therefore, we recommend the fans buy tickets early to avoid disappointment.”

Jones (61-8, 44 KOs) won middleweight, Super middleweight, light-heavyweight and heavyweight titles during an amazing run before being derailed by Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson, both by KO, in 2004.  His form has been poor at the level he once dominated, but he is on a seven-fight run against modest opposition since losing to Denis Lebedev in 2011 and the Liverpool boxing fans are already making plans to see him box in the flesh come the September date.
