Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. (59-8, 42KOs), soon to be 46-years-old, is not planning to retire any time soon.
Jones suffered three consecutive defeats from 2009 to 2011, with two of them by knockout. The third loss of the three, was a brutal KO at the hands of dangerous cruiserweight Denis Lebedev. The press, fans and people close to the boxer were pleading with him to retire. Jones continued, winning five in a row.
He wants to continue until he secures a lucrative opportunity at the cruiserweight limit.
"Five wins in a row. Five wins after they said I should have quit. Do you listen to them or keep on winning? One day someone is going to get you, it just happens, that's boxing. One day your clock will run out. One day you won't be able to do what you used to do. But while that clock can [keep going], I'm still teaching class in the boxing ring. So would I quit when they tell me to quit, when I know have more than five [wins] in me. Don't get me wrong, all of the oppossition is what I want it to be. But you have to take what you can get until you get what you want," Jones told BoxingScene.com.
