As recently reported by BoxingScene.com and other media outlets, former four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. will return to the ring on August 15th to headline the reality boxing show Knockout's live fight card. Assuming everything goes as planned, he will make a quick turn around and face Danny Santiago on August 29th in St. Maarten.
Jones ultimate goal is to capture a cruiserweight title and become a five-division champion. The former pound-for-pound king said has stated that he wants to face WBO champion Marco Huck but has now revealed that he is also open to facing any of the cruiserweight champions.
"That is the ultimate prize but there are several other things that are starting to happen now. There is a guy named Victor Ramirez who is the interim IBF cruiserweight champ who says he's interested in a fight. There is the Cuban guy (Yoan Pablo Hernandez) who is (IBF) champion - if he gets his shoulder right I'm sure he would be interested, so a lot of other doors are opening besides just the Marco Huck fight. I don't care who it is, I just want a world title shot, you understand me? For me any of them will work," Jones told BoxingScene.com while revealing the rest of his options.
"There's also (Denis) Lebedev. He is a champ now and I can get revenge but he wasn't a champ then when he beat me. I was beating him for 10 rounds before he caught me in the end because I wasn't in the shape I wanted to be in. I know I can whoop him. Then I got the guy who beat Wlodarczyk (Grigory Drozd). I don't see him being much of a problem.
"Then you got the WBO champ who is probably the stronger of the three. He could be a little bit of an issue. He's who I wanted at first because he's probably the better of the three but now the Cuban has come in to play so it's like which one of these guys am I going to fight? I want the best so when I win the title they won't say he won the title versus the weaker champ. I want the best champ," Jones told BoxingScene.com
