Former four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. arrived in Australia full of confidence. He promised to stop IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green on December 2 at Acer Arena. He doesn't think Green will be able to deal with his speed and power on the inside. Jones plans to batter Green in every round.
"He won't go the distance, no way. I can fight inside, I can fight outside, I can do it all. The foot and hand speed will be key to my victory," Jones told The Daily Telegraph. "But I can win it powerfully, I can win it boxing, I can win it either way, I'm just a better fighter."
He knows that Green's strategy will be to wear him down but Jones has put together a plan to overcome that.
"Danny's a strong guy, he's a very tough guy, he's going to put a lot of pressure on me. He's going to try and wear me down because I'm 40 and he's 36, so he's going to think he can wear me down, but I'm ready for that," Jones said.
Jones shot back at Green for recruiting sparring partners from America who according to Green are "Roy Jones clones."
"I don't care, they didn't have Roy Jones," said Jones. "You can't find a Roy Jones in the (United) States, he's in Australia now."
