Former four-division champ Roy Jones Jr. is already peaking interest in the newest arrival to the light heavyweight ranks, former two-time heavyweight champion Chris Byrd.

Jones is currently in negotiations to land a fight with Joe Calzaghe for November. After Calzaghe, Jones will be looking at Byrd as his possible next opponent. He tells boxing scribe Tim Smith that Byrd is a great addition to the light heavyweight ranks.

"It's a beautiful thing," Jones said. "Once I get through with Joe Calzaghe, I'll definitely be looking at Chris Byrd. It would be the first time in history that two former heavyweight champions fight at light heavyweight. He's definitely going to add some excitement to the division."

Byrd has been a heavyweight since 1994, and has not fought at the light heavyweight level since 1993. He makes his grand return to 175 on Friday night when he takes on Shaun George at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
