The battle between Mexican and Filipinos fighters continue when WBO interim featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (45-3-1, 34 KO) battles Jimrex Jaca (27-2-1, 12 KOs) in the main event of an HBO telecast.

There has been a lot of talk within Golden Boy Promotions of Marquez landing the March pay-per-view date with WBC super featherweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera, if Manny Pacquiao is not available for Barrera.

Whether or not Golden Boy Promotions wins their lawsuit against Top Rank for the right to promote Manny Pacquiao, Marquez still ends up a winner in the end. But, he would end up a bigger winner if Golden Boy is able to retake Pacquiao, as that would leave him with two big name opponents for the near future.

In my personal opinion, Marquez likely lands the Barrera date even if Golden Boy wins the court battle. My gut tells me that a fight between Barrera and Pacquiao will happen in 2007, but not before a each of them have another fight against name opponents to build up their rematch.
