Will tonight be the last stand for the American heavyweight? The only American fighter to hold a major world title, Hasim Rahman (41-5, 33KOs), takes on Oleg Maskaev (32-5, 25KOs) in a rematch of their 1999 bout, which Maskaev won by way of a crushing 8th round knockout.

Rahman will try to block the Eastern European invasion when he enters the ring, at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, to derail a Euro sweep of the heavyweight titles, while attempting to gain a measure of revenge.

"Rahman is the last remaining American to hold a world heavyweight title in a division dominated by natives of the former Soviet Union. "The Rock is America's Last Line of Defense," said Bob Arum of Top Rank. "He's a great champion but he's in very tough against Maskaev."

A potential fight against IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko hangs in the balance for Rahman.
