New York, New York—Undefeated Heavyweight Prospect Derric Rossy of Medford, New York unfortunately will have to wait another day for a shot at the New York State Heavyweight title.
Rossi was supposed to take on fellow New Yorker and long-time Heavyweight Contender Gary “Bring Da Pain” Bell for the vacant New York State Heavyweight title in the main New York boxing fight series “Thursday Nights Fights in the Big Apple” scheduled for December 29, 2005 at the Amazura Night Club located at 91-12 144TH Place, Jamaica, Queens, New York. Bell, however, was not cleared by the New York State Athletic Commission for medical reasons. According to Mr. Scott Stevens, Director of the New State Athletic Commission, Bell’s medicals “needed further review.” With the Bell bout off, the show did not have enough rounds to proceed at the late date.
Say event promoter Edward Mendy, “It was a great fight which had the potential to be the stuff of legend. Unfortunately, we could not get it done for circumstances beyond our control. Should Bell’s medicals be cleared, we hope to get the fight rescheduled for February 9, 2005, and at the same venue, Amazura Night Club. Otherwise, a suitable opponent will be found for Rossi, who we believe to be one the great prospects out of New York”
