Ronald Pontillas has retained his Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation super featherweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over fellow Filipino Jun Talape in a fight card in Muntinlupa City.
The 21 year old Pontillas prevailed in a battle of southpaws with two judges scoring the fight for the defending champion 114-112 while the third judge had Pontillas the winner by a much wider 116-109 margion over the No, 15 ranked Talape.
With the win Pontillas who won the title with a stunning 1st round TKO of Japan’s undefeated Masao Nakanura who had 12 knockouts in 12 wins last May 7. Improves to 13-3-3 with 6 kmockouts.
Pontillas dropped Nakamura twice before the referee stepped in and called a halt.
The 25 year old Talape was coming off a 9th round knockout at the hands of Romania’s Viorel Simion (13-0, 6 KO’s) in a WBC International featherweight title fight in Bucharest last July 9.
With his latest loss to Pontillas, Talape dropped to 21-9-1 with 8 knockouts.
