BRITISH boxing paid its respects to the late Ron Lewis at Wembley Arena on Saturday night.

Lewis, who was due to cover the show headlined by Adam Azim for Boxing Scene, suffered a cardiac arrest and died on Friday morning.

Promoters Boxxer paid a fitting tribute to the writer by setting up his workspace with a red carnation and adorned the desk with a scarf and the jersey of his beloved football team Queens Park Rangers.

Announcer Big Mo then read a fitting tribute to Lewis, a sports journalist of more than 20 years, who covered a multitude of sporting events including countless world championship fights.

'Rest in Peace Ron Lewis' was displayed on the screen along with two pictures of the writer as the crowd were invited to pay their respect with a moment’s applause. The appreciation was warm and resounding as some members of the crowd chanted his name.

Ron is survived by his wife Ellie and young children Stanley and Polly, who he adored. He will be greatly missed by the entire boxing community.
