Sanman Boxing’s top fighter Romero “Ruthless” Duno (18-1, 14 KOs)) is going to be a father soon. Being a family man, he is even more motivated as his fight with Indian fighter Kuldeep Dhanda approaches.
“I won big against Christian Gonzales in the US when I was a total Bachelor. It was my biggest break which made Golden Boy noticed my talent. It opened all doors for all these opportunities," Duno said.
"But now that my partner is pregnant and I am going to be a dad, never have I been so motivated in my entire life. I dedicated this fight to my new family especially to my baby. This is going to be an even more exciting fight."
The fight will be held on February 9 at the Midas Hotel and Casino in Manila and will be telecast live via ESPN 5 at 7PM. When asked how he feels about his fight being shown live on national TV, Duno couldn’t hide his excitement.
“The greatest joy for us boxers is to fight in our own country and in front of our countrymen. And now my fight will be shown live? It excites me even more. I am really going to give them a show. I am just so thankful to Sanman and to ESPN 5 for making this possible”, Duno further stated.
For Sanman CFO Dexter Tan, this fight is a sign that Philipine Boxing is back on track.
“Manny Pacquiao just won his fight. Donaire is a champ. Nietes captures another title at super fly. Things are on the right place. ESPN 5’s support to Philippine Boxing is an enormous boost to our warriors. We hope to produce new breed of champions this year. Duno should be on the list. He improves fight after fight. With consistent hard work and discipline, he’ll be the new Pinoy boxing sensation.”
