2007 is becoming another year of upsets.

In the main event, Saul Roman (28-4, 24KOs), a virtually unknown junior middleweight, was able to squeak out a ten-round split decision win over former champion Kassim Ouma (25-4-1, 15KOs) at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California. The scores were 95-94 and 96-93 for Romand and 95-94 for Ouma.

Ouma, appearing sluggish and unable to get off with his usual high volume of punches, was beaten to the punch and outworked by Roman. Ouma was able to score a knockdown after he sent Roman down with a low blow in the eight, but the extra point was not enough to win.

In another upset, unknown featherweight Miguel Munguia (16-7-1, 13KOs) won a ten-round decision over Jose "Pit Bull" Diaz (14-1, 4 KOs), the younger brother of WBA/IBF/WBO lightweight champ Juan Diaz.

Diaz suffers his first loss in yet another fight where the favorite was simply outworked by the underdog. The scores were 96-93, 95-94 and 97-92, all for Munguia.
