Román "Chocolatito Gonzalez has a chance to shine again in Mexico when he makes the first defense of the flyweight from the World Boxing Association (WBA), on March 19 against former Mexican champion Manuel "Chango" Vargas, who faced and lost to such champions as Giovanni Segura and Nonito Donaire.

The main event of the evening will be the fight presviously disclosed by BoxingScene.com, featuring WBC silver middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. taking on David Medina.

Román “Chocolatito” González has a record of 27-0 with 23 knockouts, while Manuel “Chango” Vargas is 29-7-1 with 14 knockouts. Vargas is a former champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), but lost the crown to the filipino Donnie Nietes.
