Triple world champion Román "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (41-0, 35 KOs) arrived in the country Monday night from Japan, where he knocked out Filipino Rocky Fuentes to successfully defend the flyweight crown (112 lbs) of the World Boxing Council. Gonzalez said the second defense of his crown will be held next year in Nicaragua.

"I felt good. Fuentes complicated me a bit, but thank God we were able to overcome it. I am grateful as well to those who prayed for me. The Commandant Daniel Ortega called to give me encouragement to fight. We hope in God that next year we'll do the defense in our country. We don't have the opponent, but the defense is confirmed. Just thinking about it, being at home and with my people, I feel motivation," Gonzalez said.
