Nicaraguan Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (34-0, 24KOs) has already returned to the gym to begin training for a mandatory fight with Japanese star Kazuto Ioka (11-0, KOs). Gonzalez is the WBA's "super champion" at junior flyweight and Ioka is the "regular" champion. The WBA has ordered a purse bid for February 18th.
"I have not seen Ioka fight yet, but every fight is tough. I think he will be a challenging opponent, because although he has very few fights he already won titles in two weight divisions. Ioka is a very famous boy back in Japan. He is A good fighter and when we face him in a fight I feel I will it will be very demanding for my career," Gonzalez said.
"I do not know who Ioka has fought, but I overcame a champion as good as Yutaka Niida, Mexico's Manuel 'Chango' Vargas and most recently Estrada, who came in with everything to beat me but he could not do it. I'm going to focus on doing everything in this fight. I will train hard and I am sure that I will knock him out, but I need to have a good preparation."
"Moreover, I will do new things like chop firewood to get stronger, run 15 miles a day. I will work on my abs more because God willing I'll get in the best shape of my career to win that fight clearly."
