WBC featherweight champion Elio Rojas promises to beat veteran Guty Espadas Jr. on February 20 in Mexico. Rojas' sole loss took place in Mexico in 2007. He was on the losing end of a split-decision to Gamaliel Diaz and many felt Rojas was the winner. The past loss doesn't put any fears in Rojas to make his very first defense in Mexico.

"A champion has to go anywhere to defend his crown. Of course, we always expect that fair play prevails. In Mexico we were robbed against Gamaliel Diaz and that was painful," Rojas said to Listin Diario. "Now I am the champion and Guty better watch out. We hope to win by any means. I'm not afraid to return to Mexico to prove who is the champion of the world."

Tony Tineo, Rojas manager, said the WBC officials and their promoter Don King promised them a very neutral setting with the officials.

"We tried to make the first defense in our country [Dominican Republic], but the economic situation made this impossible. We have a lot faith going to Mexico and when we beat Guty Espadas, then the second defense will be in the Dominican Republic," said Tineo.
