At the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, Elio Rojas (21-1, 13KOs) of the Dominican Republic put forth a workman like effort to capture the WBC featherweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Takahiro Aoh (17-2, 8KOs) of Japan. The scores were 116-113, 117-111, 118-110 for Rojas.

Ringside observers say Rojas dominated Aoh in the early rounds and stayed around the same pace during the final stretch. This was the first defense by Aoh since winning the title from Oscar Larios in their March rematch.
