Stockholm, Sweden - Light heavyweight Robin Safar, 3-0, headlined this Fernstrom Probox promotion at the EnArena in Stockholm and won on points after four hardfought rounds against Serbian Djordje Markovic, 2-4-1. Safar kept a fast pace and had Markovic under pressure for long spells. Markovic had a heavy right hook though and landed with a hard shot early in the third but Safar took it well, upped the pace and won on scores 40-36 on all cards. Working as a round card girl for this fight was no other than future Cecilia Braekhus opponent Mikaela Lauren - and she did a good job of it!
Laziz Sharifov, fighting at super lightweight and in his pro debut, impressed in the way he took apart Petar Peric, now 5-5. Switching from orthodox to southpaw and back Sharifov varied his punches well and Peric took a beating to the body and bled from the nose but showed a good left hook and made his opponent fight all the way. This one was also scored 40-36 on all cards.
Super welterweights Johannes Vinasco, 4-0, and Ruslan Mokrotskyi, a misleading 1-4, battled it out over four with Vinasco, who overcame a tough spell in the third, as winner on scores of 39-37 on all cards.
Middleweight Ahmed Rossi, 2-0, stopped Goran Sucevic, 2-1-1, after only 1.04 of the very first round. Sucevic was hurt against the ropes but could have been given a standing eight count instead of being ruled out.
Light heavyweight Simon Engstrom, 2-0, isn´t much of a boxer but can punch and he floored Estonian Pjotr Russkihh, 0-1-1, in the second and third and for the full count at 1.25 of the fourth.
Cruiserweight Marcus Alberts, 5-1, outscored a survival-minded Predrag Jevtic, 1-2-0, and won on scores of 39-37 and 40-36 twice.
Super welterweight Yaffat Amaniel, 3-0, won a close, majority decision over Filip Rzadek, 2-7, but it could perhaps have gone the other way. The judges had a strange 40-36 twice and a more correct 38-38.
The show opened with a big splash as Konrad Jaworski, 1-2, went down and out apparently in strong pain after one single - not even that hard - left to the body from Rocco Wadell and it was over at 0.23. And no, no Oscar for Jaworski for that performance.
EBU super lightweight champion Anthony Yigit was on hand and reported that he has now moved back to Stockholm and is in full training for his fight September 30 in Solna against Spaniard Sandor Martin.
Promoter Stefan Fernstrom is back at EnArena December 16.
