The decision to work with Diaz made jointly made by Pepe Gomez of Cancun Boxing, Guillermo Rocha and Roberto Diaz of Golden Boy Promotions.
Ortiz's next fight has yet to be finalized, but he will possibly fight in the United States on a date in September at one event or another presented by Golden Boy.
Roberto said: "It's a great opportunity given to me to train again in the United States, working with Joel Diaz will be helpful for me as I want to return as soon as possible to the first ranking under the WBC at super lightweight."
Ortiz, 29 years old, has a professional record of 32-1-1 and 24 wins by knockout. After suffering the only defeat of his career against Argentina's Lucas Matthysse in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 6, 2014 - "Massa" returned to winning ways in April with a ten round unanimous decision over Juan Jesus Rivera.
