Oasis Arena Grand Hotel Oasis Cancun in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico - Former WBC silver super lightweight champion Roberto 'Massa' Ortiz (34-1-1, 26 KOs) knocked out Pascual Salgado (12-7, 8 KOs) in the fourth round, when he dropped Salgado for the full count.
Ortiz, now trained by veteran trainer Joel Diaz of Los Angeles, picked up his third win a row since getting stopped in two rounds by Lucas Matthysse in September of 2004. It was Ortiz's first bout outside of Mexico.
He was in action last April and won a ten round unanimous decision over Juan Jesus Rivera and then stopped Nestor Garcia in nine rounds in November.
Alejandra “La Tigre” Jimenez (6-0, 4 KOs) kept her undefeated record in place with a ten round majority decision over Martha “The Shadow” Salazar (13-5, 3 KOs) to capture the WBC female heavyweight championship. In a fight where a lot of big punches were thrown by both women, the scores were 96-94, 98-93 and 95-95.
Also in action, rising lightweight prospect Joseph Aguirre (12-0, 8 KOs) drilled Oscar Arjona (9-5, 5 KOs) in the first round. He put Arjona down twice to secure the stoppage victory.
Super lightweight Pablo Polanco (6-7) win a four round unanimous decision over Alfredo Cardenas (3-5).
