Fringe bantamweight contender Roberto Domingo Sosa won a stay-busy bout Saturday night, decisioning Carlos Farias over six rounds at the Escuela de Ensenanza Secundaria Numero 2 Genaro Persico in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Scores were 59.5-56.5, 59-57, and 58.5-56.5 for Sosa, who has now won his last three bouts.
Sosa (29-3-1, 15 knockouts) twice challenged for world title belts, losing both times. Sosa lost by unanimous decision to Juan Carlos Sanchez, with the vacant IBF 115-pound title at stake in June of 2013. Two years later, Sosa lost by unanimous decision to WBA flyweight titleholder Kazuto Ioka.
The 33-year-old Sosa does have a split decision victory over WBO bantamweight titleholder Zolani Tete.
Farias (13-13-3, 1 KO) has lost his last four bouts.
In the main event, fringe lightweight contender German Benitez won a hard-fought 10 round unanimous decision over Martin Antonio Coggi.
Scores were 98-92, 97-93, and 96-94 for Benitez, who improves to 20-2, 9 KOs.
The southpaw Coggi falls to 34-8-3, 17 KOs.
The promoter of the card was Mario Margossian.
IN OTHER RESULTS: Junior bantamweight contender Norberto Jimenez continues to win.
Jimenez made quick work of Rayci Rosa, stopping him in the second round late Saturday night at Los Prados Social Club in Santo Domingo, not far from his home of Villa Duarte in the Dominican Republic.
The 26-year-old Jimenez (28-8-4, 16 knockouts), who has stopped six of his last seven opponents, is now unbeaten in his last 29 bouts, a span of over six and a half years.
Rosa falls to 7-11-4, 4 KOs.
Jimenez's most notable fight over that span was a 12 round split decision draw against then-WBA junior bantamweight titleholder Kohei Kono in December of 2014.
Jimenez is ranked number two by the WBA and number eight by the WBC.
Also on the Manquita Boxing card, fringe featherweight contender Yenifel Vicente knocked out Esteban Aquino (12-3, 7 KOs) in the opening round.
Vicente (31-3-2, 23 KOs) has won his last six bouts, all by knockout.
Welterweight Alberto Puello remained unbeaten, winning a one-sided decision over former fringe contender Francisco Contreras.
All three judges scored the bout 100-90 in favor of Puello, who improves to 14-0, 8 KOs.
