Sources have advised BoxingScene.com that Robert Guerrero (29-1-1, 18KOs) could possibly make his welterweight debut in the month of July, against hard-hitting WBC silver champion Selcuk Aydin (23-0, 17KOs). Guerrero would be moving up by two weight divisions to make this potential fight, and Showtime is the rumored network of choice for the contest.
Negotiations are still ongoing, according to sources with knowledge of the discussions. The working date is July 28 in San Jose, California.
Guerrero, a former two-time titleholder, has been inactive since suffering a left shoulder injury last August. He underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury. After several months of rehabilitation, Guerrero is feeling 100% and ready to fight.
