Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero is looking to continue to make some noise in the Welterweight division as he looks to defeat former world champion Andre Berto in a showdown on November 24th.
Guerrero has been asking for the big names in the Welterweight division and even decided to leapfrog 140lbs altogether in order to try to make bigger fights possible. He reassures he feels great at the higher weight and believes he can stop Berto.
“I believe I can knock him out. I ain’t looking for the knockout but if it happens it happens. Like I said before, I’m coming to beat him down. I’ll be glad if it goes 12 rounds because I want to send this guy home hurting. Damaged. That’s what boxing’s about; putting beatings on people and that’s what I’m going to do” said a confident Guerrero to BoxingScene.
There were talks of Guerrero facing current WBO Welterweight champion Timothy Bradley but that fight never materialized and a fight with him and Berto was announced shortly after. Guerrero was asked if Andre Berto was an even bigger and better option than fighting Bradley.
“I’m happy just to fight. I love to fight [so] it doesn’t matter who it is. The unfortunate thing [for Berto] is it has to be [him] so he has to take the wrath of Guerrero. I’m ready to go, I’m happy with the fight and we’re going to take care of business. The fight with Berto is just going to get me that one step closer to that mega fight with either a Manny [Pacquiao] or a Floyd Mayweather” said Guerrero.
The fight is a month away and both fighters have assured that is plenty of time to get ready and be fully prepared.
