Robbie Davies Jr. has made a decision regarding his new training setup.

The former British, Commonwealth and European super-lightweight champion suffered only his second professional defeat back in October.

Davies Jr. had six years under the tutelage of Dave Tonks and his son, Joe, at their base in Speke, Liverpool.

But after losing on points to Lewis Ritson at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN Stateside, in an official eliminator for the WBA world title at super-lightweight, the 30-year-old decided to part ways with his long-term training team and elected to move on to pastures new.

The new path on which Davies Jr. is now treading has led him to Sheffield, to the famous Wincobank Gym where he will link up with Dominic Ingle.

“After long thought being in and out of gyms since before Christmas, I have chosen to take myself out of my comfort zone and move to Sheffield under the guidance of Dominic Ingle,” Davies Jr. wrote on social media when revealing his decision.

In linking up with Ingle, the son of 1974 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Robbie Davies will work alongside ex-IBF welterweight world champion Kell Brook, former IBF featherweight world title challenger Kid Galahad and current WBO middleweight number one contender Liam Williams.

“Matchroom Boxing, [my promoter] Eddie Hearn and my manager Neil Marsh are already working on a date to get me back in there and back on the up.
“2020, let’s go!”

A return date for Davies Jr. will be revealed in due course.
