Robbie Davies Jr. has had a lot of time to think.

The former British, Commonwealth and European super-lightweight champion suffered only his second professional defeat back in October.

Davies Jr. has had six years under the tutelage of Dave Tonks and his son, Joe, at their base in Speke, Liverpool.

But after losing on points to Lewis Ritson at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN Stateside, in an official eliminator for the WBA world title at super-lightweight, the 30-year-old has decided to part ways with his long-term training team and elected to move on to pastures new.

“After six years at Tonk Gym, [my time] has come to [an] end,” Davies Jr., who is managed by Neil Marsh, wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. “We’ve had many highs and very few lows [and] faced them all as a team.

“[We’ve] been there for each other in boxing and in life and made memories that will remain with me forever, but it’s time for me to move on and find new goals.”

It has yet to be revealed exactly where Davies Jr. will set up home next, but details are expected to follow soon.
