Steve 'Match Makin' Mestas and his company Airtight Boxing are getting bouts lined up for their first show of the year. The date is March 6th and the card is stacked with local talent and well matched fights.
'Red Hot' Rob Frankel will be the headliner for this show. His original opponent pulled out of the fight on Monday so the search is on for another dance partner.
In the co-main we will see a rematch from 2011 with Raul 'Chino' Carrillo giving Tyler Pogline another chance for victory in a welterweight tilt. The first bout was a wild affair that saw Pogline drop Carrillo on his way to losing a close decision.
Also scheduled is the return of the 'Pretty Girl' Brittany Cruz. Cruz comes from the fighting Cruz family. Her aunt Terry Cruz is a former world champion, twice over and her uncle Art Cruz was a tough as nails journeyman who fought Juan Diaz twice as well as Steve Forbes, all on short notice. Brittany has been away from boxing since 2012. She will fight a rematch with Angie Hayes.
In an interesting undercard bout Johnny Rodriguez will take on Ricardo Reyes at welterweight. In a super featherweight bout Armando Vera, trained by former contender Donald Camarena at the TLC Gym, will fight Dylon Oligo who makes his debut. From the fighting Atencio's, Isaac will make his return to the ring to take on Dean Williams in a super middleweight bout.
Others who could land on the card include two fighters from the Grudge Training Center with Andrew Scripter and Cece Martinez. Also Freddy Marquez makes his pro debut and Donald Pierce comes over from the world of MMA.
The fights are scheduled for Friday, March 6th at the Radisson Hotel, 3155 S. Vaughn Way, Aurora, CO 80014, which is basically I-225 and Parker Road. The doors open at 6:30 with the first bell at 7:30. Tickets can be obtained by calling Steve Mestas at 720-298-1954 or go to TicketsWest.com.
