Middleweight contender Rob Brant is hoping to take the next step in 2017 and he has his first assignment lined up for the upcoming year.
He is scheduled to return on January 20th against George Carter at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota.
"Rob is fighting on January 20th, he's defending his NABA title against George Carter Jr, in Hinckley, Minnesota at the Grand Casino and that will be on Floboxing.tv and we're hopeful that Rob who's number four in the WBA, right now, in their world rankings and we're hopeful that he gets a crack at the winner of the (Hassan) N'Dam-(Alfonso) Blanco fight," said Brant's promoter, Greg Cohen.
Blanco is the WBA 'interim' champion and he faces N'Dam on December 17th.
"That's what we're pushing for and ultimately the winner of (Gennady) Golovkin-(Danny) Jacobs if it ever happens,"added Cohen.
Golovkin is the WBA 'super' champion, while Jacobs has the 'regular' version of their title. The hope is that they square off this March.
Brant, who has a record of 21-0 (14 KO's), fought three times in 2016 capped off by a third round stoppage of Chris Fitzpatrick back in August 5th in Temecula, California.
