At the final press conference yesterday in New York, there was mention of former two division champion Paulie Malignaggi and the possibility of him being a return opponent for Manny Pacquiao. It was a suggestion Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach laughed off.

"Manny (Pacquiao’s) home resting, doing fine,” Roach told BoxingScene.com “Paulie Malignaggi is making a lot of noise. He’s trying to get a fight with Pacquiao but I don’t think he’s going to get one. I don’t think there’s a public outcry not even here in his hometown of Brooklyn.”

Much like Pacquiao-Malignaggi, Roach doesn’t want to see one of his former pupil’s Amir Khan land a Mayweather. When asked if Khan did enough against Chris Algieri to land a Mayweather fight, Roach said:

“No, but I think he won the fight. He didn’t do anything special, its tough choice. Does Mayweather want to take him because he thinks he’s an easy fight? Khan does have fast hands. He throws combinations. He’s a good athlete even though he holds a lot and is a little boring. I don’t think Mayweather will go near him because no one wants to see that fight.”
