In a recent interview, trainer Freddie Roach spoke about his junior welterweight champion, Amir Khan, and their future goals. Roach wants Khan to clean out the junior welterweight division. He thinks his champion is ready for all of the top fighters at 140-pounds. He would like for Khan to beat all of the top fighters in his division and then move up to welterweight for what might be a major fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Roach wants Khan to first settle the issue with Marcos Maidana because a lot of experts are under the impression the British fighter is running from the contest.

"We want to clean out the division. Amir is ready to fight anyone at 140-pounds. First we want to fight Maidana because everyone says he's a big puncher and we're ducking him. We're not ducking him. Amir wants to fight him. We won't have any problems with Maidana. Amir will outbox him. I think Devon Alexander and [Tim] Bradley should fight each other and we'll fight the winner [after Maidana]. And then we could talk about going to welterweight and maybe fight a Floyd Mayweather. I think that would be a great fight," Roach was quoted by Golzka.
