As previously reported, Hall Fame trainer Freddie Roach - who has one of the deepest stables in boxing which includes the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto and Ruslan Provodnikov - has added another fighter who has deep bloodlines in the sport.
"I just made a deal with Tony Holden and I'm the new trainer of Tommy Morrison's son. He'll be here Monday," Roach told BoxingScene.com on Thursday afternoon, referring to the 8-0 (6 KO's), Trey Lippe, who hails from Oklahoma.
His father was a noted heavyweight in the 1990's who held the WBO title for a spell. He had a career mark of 48-3-1 (43 KO's).Morrison died in 2013 due to complications from AIDS.
When asked how this union formed, Roach explained:
"Tony Holden is a good friend of mine for a long time and he told me about him. He was having problems with him training at the gym and so forth. So he came here to work out one morning and he said,'I learned more from you in one hour than I did with my other trainer. Can I train with you?' And so me and him made a deal yesterday, his manager came in."
