Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, who briefly worked with Mike Tyson, expects the retired boxer to go for the kill when he faces former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. on November 28.
The 54-year-old Tyson, a former undisputed heavyweight champion, has been out of the ring since 2005 - when he was knocked out by journeyman Kevin McBride.
Jones, who is 51-years-old and captured titles at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight, has been out of the ring since 2018.
Tyson vs. Jones will be fought as an eight round exhibition clash in Los Angeles, and distributed on pay-per-view.
Tyson and Jones have both discussed the scenario of trading big shots in the early going.
The California State Athletic Commission will allow the two boxers to fight it out, but they don't want them to seriously hurt each other. If they see one of the boxers in serious trouble, the contest may get stopped prematurely.
Roach recently spoke to Tyson. Based on their conversation, he anticipates Tyson to come out firing bombs in the first round with pure knockout intentions.
"I spoke with Mike Tyson about ten days ago and I told him he doesn't know the meaning of the word 'exhibition.' He laughed but he knew what I meant. Mike is an old school fighter who only has one gear - forward," Roach told Press Box PR.
"And I know when that bell rings, Mike will be swinging for the fences. I think Mike knocks Roy Jones out. But I did warn Mike that Roy has to be careful of Roy's left to the body. That's the punch Roy used to knock out Virgil Hill."
