BoxingScene.com spoke with Freddie Roach after his charge Denis Levedev's cruiserweight title unification with Victor Ramirez in Moscow, Russia this past Saturday night — a fight that Lebedev won via a second-round stoppage to add the IBF title to his WBA belt.
“Lebedev had a great camp,” Roach told BoxingScene.com.
Asked who may be next for Lebedev, Roach indicated that he wants Lebedev to continue marching forward for more world title belts in the division.
“There's a Polish guy [Krzysztof Glowacki, WBO champion] making some noise and we'd like to fight him.”
Roach also spoke about a mooted match between Manny Pacquiao's career rival Floyd Mayweather and MMA superstar Connor McGregor, a fight which is being pushed in the media by Floyd himself. Roach was recently contacted to help train McGregor for his next outing, although it was never discussed who the UFC champion would be fighting.
“I don't want to see that—it's boring,” he declared. “Both!” he said with a smile when asked if his boredom stems from the Mayweather or McGregor side of the equation.
As for Pacquiao, is his career definitely over following his successful election as Senator in the Philippines or could he be tempted back after showing fine form when beating Tim Bradley in their trilogy showdown last month in Las Vegas?
“I'm very proud of Manny,” stated Roach. “I know he will go onto serve his country well and maybe we'll do one more (fight).”
