Baguio City, Philippines - I caught up with Hall of Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach who is in Baguio for the first leg of Manny Pacquiao's training camp against Timothy Bradley on June 9.
Roach shared his thoughts on Bradley, his power, and what they are going to watch out for on fight night.
"He’s a young and undefeated guy. He’s going to be resilient, of course he’s undefeated, he’s never tasted defeat. Sometimes those kind of fighters can be more resilient, but the thing is, I don’t think he has much of a choice when Manny hits him with his power. He hasn’t really fought anybody with the power that Manny has, and he’ll find out soon," Roach told me in an interview after doing mitts with Pacquiao at the Shape-Up Gym.
Roach isn't wary of Bradley's power
"He’s not a great puncher; he’s not a bad puncher, but he’s a little bit slow. Although at 147, his power is going to be a little bit better than at 140, but I don’t think it's really going to be a problem for us."
On his HBO reality series
"I miss them actually (laughing). They’re my friends and they were with me for a year and they asked me if I’ll do it again. I said 'I’ll definitely do it again with those guys' because they did a great job."
