WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios is poised to face the winner of the upcoming WBC championship rematch between belt owner Humberto Soto and challenger Urbano Antillon. Soto-Antillon takes place on the May 7 pay-per-view undercard to Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas
On Saturday night at The Palms in Las Vegas, Rios knocked out Miguel Acosta in the tenth round to capture the title in a Fight of The Year battle.
After the bout, BoxingScene.com was advised that former three division champion Marco Antonio Barrera is a serious possibility for Rios in his next fight. Acosta has already knocked out Antillon, and Rios has doubts about Soto taking the fight.
"After watching this, Soto will never take the fight, never. This fight was going to be against Soto, but he said he wasn't ready. But now he's fighting next week. He will never take the fight. So maybe Barrera or whoever my manager Cameron Dunkin, and my trainer Robert Garcia get for me," Rios told BoxingScene.com.
