Big hearted and tough Ricky Sismundo has won the vacant WBO Asia Pacific featherweight youth title with a smashing 3rd round TKO over Indonesia ’s Yhannes Yordan at the Pangsuma Sports Hall in Pontianak City, Indonesia on Saturday.
However, Robert Allanic suffered a 2nd round knockout at the hands of undefeated, power-punching Daud “Cino” Yordan in a battle for the WBO Oriental featherweight interim title on the same card.
Regarded as one of Indonesia’s finest prospects for a world title the elder Yordan caught Allanic with three hard punches in the opening round and although Allanic tried to fight back he couldn’t land a clean shot and missed with a dangerous right hook according to Indonesian boxing writer Jeff Pamungkas.
Halfway through the second round Yordan nailed Allanic with three successive punches to the chin and dropped the Filipino but Allanic quickly got up and looked dangerous as he fought back aggressively.
But that was it. Yordan connected with a vicious, lopping left to the mid-section that took the stuffing out of Allanic who was counted out by referee Nus Rinhena.
Pamuangkas quoted Yordan as saying “I know this fight wouldn’t last long.”
Respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer of the ALA Gym told us that he had tried get a switch in opponents with Sismundo fighting Daud Yordan and Allanic fighting younger brother Yohannes but he was told it was too late to change because the publicity had already been done.
With the win Daud Yordan improved his unblemished record to 24-0 with 18 knockouts while Allanic fell to 17-6-2 with 9 knockouts.
Sismundo evened things out in the Philippines-Indonesia regional title fights when he dropped Yohannes Yordan three times in the third round to score a one-sided TKO with referee Syamsuddin Abdullah calling a halt following the third knockdown..
The aggressive Sismundo hammered the seemingly listless Yohannes who caved in under the power of the Filipino who takes his record to 14-3 with 5 knockouts while Yohannes who suffered his first defeat dropped to 7-1-1 with 1 knockout.
