Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. has made a prediction, he says Ricky Hatton will stop Manny Pacquiao when the two square off on May 2 in Las Vegas. Mayweather says that unlike De La Hoya, Hatton will not kill his body to make weight and he will be the stronger and better fighter in the ring.
"I believe that Ricky Hatton can stop Manny Pacquiao. The best man will win on that night but it’s my man who’s going to be the best man that night. Pacquiao is not going to be the best fighter that night. Ricky will not go into that fight like De La Hoya, who was dehydrated," Mayweather Sr. told the Manila Bulletin.
Mayweather admits that Pacquiao is the faster fighter and even praised his chin. He plans to map out a strategy to take away Pacquiao's jab in the fight and set a course for Hatton to stop the Filipino fighter.
"I can’t take that (speed) away from Pacquiao. But if there’s one thing that Ricky will take away from Pacquiao, it will be his jab. I’ve got a whole lot of strategy. Hatton is stronger than Pacquiao," Mayweather Sr. said.
