Ricky Hatton says that his countryman, Amir Khan, will not be able to help Manny Pacquiao in training camp. Khan and Pacquiao are both trained by Freddie Roach. Khan, who is friendly with Hatton, plans to join Pacquiao in training camp to help prepare the Filipino champ for the May 2 showdown with Hatton. The friendship did not stop Hatton from lashing out at Khan.

Hatton believes that Khan's help will be nothing more than a waste of time.

“Amir can give Manny all the help in the world, but it won’t make a blind piece of difference! It was not so long ago that I was reading things with Amir saying he thought he could beat me and now there are headlines about him plotting the downfall of Ricky Hatton," Hatton told The Daily Star.

Hatton says that Khan is the wrong kind of fighter to use for sparring and he doesn't care what the two of them try to plot in camp.

“I don’t blame him for training with Manny because it is a good thing for him, but Amir is so far away from me as far as styles go that I don’t see the point of what is being said. In fact, what is being said puts even more confidence in me. If Amir Khan can spar with Manny and better himself for it, that’s OK with me. I can’t blame him for that because he is looking after his own career."

“If Manny says he is using Amir Khan for speed, he is using the wrong kind of speed. Amir won’t be pushing him back on the ropes, pressurising him and throwing power-punches to the body like I do.”

Hatton is also upset with Roach's prediction of a three round knockout win by Pacquiao.

“Freddie Roach has said a few things that have upset me and my trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr – like Manny Pacquiao is going to knock me out in three rounds. He was nothing short of disgusted by that. It got his back up a bit. This fight is about
getting the tactics right and about who is the better trainer. I don’t want to be disrespectful to Freddie Roach, but it is clear from my last fight when I defeated Paulie Malignaggi that I made the right choice in picking Floyd," Hatton said.
