Ricky Hatton says he will be just like every other boxing fan on July 14th and will pull up his seat to enjoy what should be an enthralling contest between David Haye and Dereck Chisora at Upton Park in London.
The 33 year-old former fighter is as keen as most fight fans to take in the action following the pair’s public brawl last February, but admits that the British Boxing Board of Control are powerless to stop the fight from happening, despite promising sanctions.
"I'll watch it. It will be a good fight,” Hatton told BBC Radio Manchester.
"They're not breaking any rules but if you were sat on the BBBofC committee, steam would be coming out your ears. If you were on the board of control, you'd be seething a little bit.
"But nobody's breaking any rules and, even though I'm a boxing member for the BBBofC, when it comes on the box, I'm sure I'll watch it."
Haye, 31, and 28 year-old Chisora will now fight for fringe versions on the WBO and WBA heavyweight belts after the World Boxing Association confirmed their involvement today, which will be another kick in the teeth for the BBBofC and their condemnation of the clash.
