MATTHEW HATTON will make the second defence of his European welterweight title against Switzerland’s Roberto Belge next month.
‘Magic’ Matthew will face his undefeated challenger in the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on Friday November 26.
Hatton, 29, is firmly on course for a world title tilt and Hatton Promotions CEO Gareth Williams believes that the chance to emulate older brother Ricky is imminent.
He revealed: “There are a lot of opportunities for Matthew. He is ranked six by the WBA and their champion Vyacheslav Senchenko is one option we are exploring.
“This year has been very successful for Matthew professionally and I am certain we will deliver a world title fight next year.”
Hatton, beaten just four times in 46 fights won the European title in March taking a decision over Gianluca Branco, and in his sole defence unanimously outpointed former WBA champion Yuriy Nuzhnenko.
Matthew added: “I am back in full training and sure that come fight night I will continue to show that I belong with the best in the division.”
Belge, 31, has been boxing professionally for almost six years and his only blemish in 26 fights is a draw against Andrei Abramenka.
The full undercard will be announced later this month, but one fighter appearing is big ticket selling light-middleweight Adam ‘The Bomber’ Etches.
Sheffield’s Etches made a successful professional debut earlier this month stopping experienced Lester Walsh inside two rounds.
Williams added: “Hatton Promotions first spotted Adam in an amateur tournament last year and we believe he will become a major player in years to come."
