The first son of Manchester, Ricky Hatton, says there is no reason for Joe Calzaghe to fight IBF light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson. He says Calzaghe's big win from last Saturday over Roy Jones Jr. is the perfect way to walk away from the ring.
If Calzaghe fights and beats Dawson, Hatton says the media will come up with another name for Joe to fight. He feels the best route for Calzaghe is to hang up the gloves and walk away into retirement.
"There's always a new contender coming through. They're going on about Joe should fight Chad Dawson, I think that's a load of rubbish. Joe beat Bernard Hopkins and now he's beaten Roy Jones. You can't get a better way to bow out, really. He should retire - there's nothing more Joe Calzaghe can do," Hatton said.
