Former champion Ricky Hatton is upset with the recent reports which claimed the Manchester star had announced his retirement from boxing. In a column written by Hatton for the Manchester Evening News, the ex-champion set the record straight.
According to Hatton, people took a single sentence from a statement made last week and twisted his words around. As reported several weeks ago, Hatton renewed his boxing license. He wants to leave the option of a comeback open. Hatton's last fight, a two round knockout loss, came against Manny Pacquiao in May 2009.
"I'd like to clarify the position with regards my boxing career once again. As usual, one sentence out of many can take a conversation out of context, and until you hear it officially from the horse's mouth, I am not retired! I have renewed my licence and if I wake up one day and the urge is there, you’ll be the first to know," Hatton said.
