Some people are very tough to please. Manchester's first boxing son, Ricky Hatton, sat ringside for last Saturday's fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley. Hatton did not enjoy the fight, whcih saw Mayweather dominate Mosley over a twelve round contest.
"I've just returned from Las Vegas where I watched the Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley fight. Although I didn't particularly enjoy the fight it was good to be back in Vegas and to catch up with some old friends," Hatton said in his Manchester Evening News column.
Hatton said the atmosphere was heavy but nothing like the atmosphere for his 2007 fight with Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"The MGM was very busy over the weekend but could not repeat the atmosphere and intensity surrounding my fight with Mayweather a couple of years ago. The 30,000 English fans created an amazing atmosphere which will stay with me forever. Las Vegas remains the boxing capital of the world and I am looking forward to the day when I am taking one of my boxers over there for a world title fight, I am hoping it will not be that long," Hatton said.
Hatton later gave his thoughts on next Saturday's fight between countryman Amir Khan and Paulie Malignaggi. Hatton stopped Malignaggi a few years ago in a one-sided fight. Hatton predicts an easy win for Khan.
"Another anticipated fight is the forthcoming Amir Khan and Paulie Malignaggi. Having beaten Malignaggi comfortably myself I do not envisage any problems for Amir and expect him to win easily," Hatton said.
