Braehead Arena, Glasgow, Scotland - WBO super featherweight champion Ricky Burns (31-2, 8KOs) stopped a game Joseph Laryea (11-5, 11KOs) after the challenger was unable to come out for the eight round. Laryea's corner told the referee the boxer hand injured his right hand and was unable to continue.

Laryea looked strong and willing to trade in the early rounds of the fight. He had a very strong fourth round, but Burns started to target the body and made it a hard, physical fight for the challenger. Prior to the stoppage, Burns was really coming on and Laryea was starting to fade.
