Ricky Burns (28-2, 7KOs) is ready for the fight of his life. He is confident of handing super featherweight Roman Martinez (24-0, 15KOs) his first loss on September 4. Martinez has been battering the competition. Burns thinks the styles will match up in his favor to create a very exciting fight. The fight has been postponed several times and everything seems to be in place for the fight to come off. There is still some talk about the actual location of the event, but that doesn't seem to be a dealbreaker in this case.

“I believe I have the perfect style to beat him, he is going to be chasing me about the ring. We’ve been working in the gym on me going forward a lot more, so it’s a case of mixing it up when we go into the fight,” said Burns to STV.

“The fight has been long overdue. There has been a few set-backs with the date and things like that, but I’m just really happy that the fourth of September is set now and I’ve got something to look forward to."

Burns has already been in camp for the fight. He took a few days off and plans to pick it back upi next week. He plans for at least ten solid weeks of training for the fight.

“My body has been getting ready to fight and over the last year I’ve had a few dates set and I’ve been training to fight and been let down with a couple of weeks to go. But again, I’m really glad that it’s happening.

“We’ve got this week off. We start back next week and that’s ten weeks solid training and I can see me bringing this title back to Scotland.”
