Richardson Hitchins is one of the most recognisable figures within the New York fight scene. That is down to his amazing amateur pedigree, which concluded with an appearance in the 2016 Olympic Games for his native Hati.
The Brooklyn based Hitchins, who is trained by Lenny Wilson and Andre Rozier's Havoc Team has racked up 9 wins from his first 9 contests, with 5 coming inside the scheduled distance. The rising super lightweight opened up about his setup and his inception in the professional ranks.
Hitchins said, "Post Olympic Games I signed with Mayweather Promotions which was a dream come true. It's been a great journey so far and I'm really enjoying the journey and training with Lenny Wilson and Andre Rozier. The camp is great and I'm around some of the best fighters in the game and I'm promoted by a legend and that is where I want to be in the sport of boxing when my career is done.
"Representing Hati in the Olympics meant every to me. I am a Brooklyn kid but I am very proud of my roots and I want to become a world champion and inspire the people of both Hati and New York that hard work will get you to the top in life in whatever you do."
Hitchins returns July 27 on the undercard of Gervonta Davis' world title defence in Baltimore, Maryland and the Mayweather Promotions man opened up on what people can expect from his upcoming fight and from him in the future.
The Brooklyn based stylist said, "I'm expecting to put on another performance that will be a career-best and take out the guy I'm fighting with ease. I believe I'm a world champion in waiting and I would fight for a world title tomorrow if I was offered it and I believe I would beat any of the current champions.
"My ambitions in boxing is to be a multiweight world champion. I need to keep working hard but I guarantee you all that you will see The Haitian Revalatation, Richardson Hitchins as world champion in the very near future, and I want any form of titles before the year is out."
