At the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio, the main event of the "The Homecoming" - saw Ricardo Williams Jr. (14-2-1, 7 KOs) win an eight round unanimous decision over Doel Carrasquillo (12-10-1, 10 KO) in front of an estimated crowd of 5,000 fans. Williams, a 2000 Olympic silver medalist, simply used his quicker hands to outwork and outbox his opponent for the entire fight. The scores were 79-73, 78-74 and 80-72.
"He fought in his shell the whole time, so it was hard," Williams told writer Ryan Ernst. "I couldn't really play to the crowd too much. I'm just happy with the win."
In the co-main event, Aaron Pryor Jr. (12-1, 8KOs) returned from the first loss of his pro career [December 08] and stopped Will Prieto (5-4-2, 2KOs) in the second round.
"Boxing's a learning experience," Pryor told Ernst. "I learn with every fight. I'm glad I got the win, but I've got a lot to learn still."
